There's education and there's education. Carl Jung In his paper The Development of Personality - Collected Works 17 pp284-323 makes some telling observations...
"There are half-baked educators who are not human beings at all , but walking personifications of method. Anyone who wants to educate must [themselves] be educated"
"By and large they suffer from the same defective education as the hapless children they are supposed to instruct"
"Everyone who has finished [their] course of studies feels [themselves] to be fully educated, in a word [they] feel grown up. [They] must feel this, [they] must have this solid conviction...in order to survive the struggle for existence.Any doubt or feeling of uncertainty would hinder and cripple [them], undermining the necessary faith in [their] own authority and unfitting [them] for a professional career. People expect [them] to be efficient and good at [their] job and not to have doubts about [themselves] and [their] capabilities. The professional [person] is irretrievably condemned to being competent.
If you choose to do a degree to get some 'banked' knowledge don't be fooled into thinking this is your education...
