Self Harm in Jails - A Foolish Concept?

Am I being foolish in thinking that Increases in Self Harm in UK Jails has something to do with the raising of its 'profile' as a behaviour as much as improved methods of classifying and collection?

Might incidents of 'self-harm' have ironically increased due to the fact that it is a means for 'attracting attention'? What is the 'stroke' that is gained by the harmer? Are there 'types' of self-harmer ranging from the distraught and hopeless through to the deceitful and remorseless.

If another form of inmate behaviour is identified in future as i) happening, ii) worthy of institutional concern and attention iii) given a euphamistic and populist name, might that then become the 'attention seeking behaviour of choice' of the criminally manipulative? What's your opinion?

Finnish Fool

I was utterly amazed at the foolishness of Marko Kulju for deciding to take a chip of the old blocks on Easter Island. He must be cracked! Well at least he had to shell out $17,000 but was that enough?

3 Foolish Reasons For Being A Suicide Bomber

Ok, so you might just be able to forgive their pretty poor political analysis and weak social science research skills for reaching conclusions about who is killing who in Iraq but...

What is really foolish is to become a suicide bomber because you don't like the fact that the UK public watch Home and Away, East Enders and have the odd Drink.

C'mon guys can't you find something to get really angry about...Stilton Cheese, Warm Beer, Late Buses perhaps?
