Its Foolish To Think That Technology Teaches

image thanks to Andrew

Here we go again! Just because technology 'can' doesn't mean we 'should'. Not that I'm a Luddite, I think that technology can facilitate learning and education, but to think that Tech teaches is ignorant b@**l@s. Exhibitors at the BETT show should be more circumspect with their claims.

Education and learning is a social experience with insight coming from shared understandings. Sure technical connectivity and access to digital knowledge and communication resources is a good thing, but that isn't teaching, education or learning.

Human beings inspire other human beings, ideas are transmitted head to head, not byte to byte.

Less of this foolish nonsense!

Thanks Hapi, I would't normally post a comment without a direct link to the post theme. Nevertheless Hapi has given a great example of what I mean. It was 'Hapi' that had the idea of sharing his ideas on his interesting blog. The technology didn't do that!
